A another method, by which a director creates the rhythm and tempo in a scene, is related especially to the ‘fixity of place’. Man used to think that the fixity leads to be bored. But the fixity of place has another function on directing a scene. That stimulates the imagination of spectators through many other means. At first, we can imagine the duality of the fixity of place. That is, the spectator knows in mind clearly that there is the theatre and they seats in seats. But this fact leads at the same time to another intention in spectator's mind that is willing to break the fixity of place. That is the duality of fixity. There are many methods which can break the fixity of a scene. For example, 1) entrance and exit of characters, 2) division of the place or scene, 3) changes of speed, accent, intonation in the action and dialogue of characters 4) changes of the technical element like a set, light, costume, music and effect, 5) changes of situations, 6) collision of scenes are the director's methods by which he can change the rhythm and tempo in a scene. Therefore we can come to the conclusion that the fixity of place rather causes to stimulate the imagination of spectators.
