This study aims to identify the relationship between participation in dancing for life and social support and self-realization. The study targeted 235 males and females 20 years old or over through a random sampling. As a data collection tool, the study utilized questionnaires used by Cohen and Hoberman (1983) and translated by Kim Jeong Hee and Lee Jang Ho (1987) for social support, and utilized questionnaires used by Min Jin (1986) and Gwon Hyeok Hee (1999) for self-realization. The reliability coefficient of the questionnaires was between .83 and .92. Then, the study used a multiple regression for the data analysis. The study reached the following conclusions through the above research methods and procedures. First, the participation period in dancing for life significantly affected physical support, rating support, and affiliated sense support in social support, and the intensity of participation significantly affected rating support and affiliated sense support. Second, the participation period significantly affected ability development, the realization of goal, and the demonstration of ability, and the intensity of participation significantly affected ability development and the demonstration of ability. Third, the participating group in dancing showed higher self-realization than the non-participating group in dancing, on average. Fourth, physical support and rating support, which are the social support variables of the participants in dancing for life, significantly affected ability development, the realization of goal, and the demonstration of ability, which are three sub-variables of self-realization.
