Therefore, this study aims to do an experiment of creative role of dancers in terms of improvisation using Etude, a technique for practicing improvised performance as a medium of communication by momentary work of consciousness. Therefore, the primary goal of this article lies in applying etude, one of the methods developed by Stanislavski to train actors, to improvised expression of dancers in order to propose a new method of improvised expression by means of an experiment for the development of active characters and role creation of dancers, taking into account Lavan’s concept of creative movement on which the development of improvised dancing as an expression and improvised experience are based as well as theories of cognitive psychology. Consequently, this study examined how a part of the play Hamlet is reinterpreted through improvised expressions, setting the persona ‘Hamlet’ as a character of a dancer on the basis of the concept of etude, in a more concrete and experimental method. Participation effect on character creation when improvisational movement expression method was applied to graduate students can be organized as follows. First is enhancement of problem solving skills. Second is reaction to change in awareness. Third is enhancement of character creation skills. Fourth is concentration. Fifth is enhancement of expression based on relative recognition. Sixth is enhancement of voluntary expression.
