Since 2001, IIA(Incheon International Airport) tries to be a hub of air cargo in Northeast Asia by building a variety of its infrastructure facilities. The strategy of IIA has been aimed at supporting the airport operation, offering larger air cargo capacity to their customers. In fact, IIA has more cargo traffic volume than the Schiphol's(The Netherlands) and Changi's(Singapore), but its resident rate of international companies in the logistics complex is lower than the competing airports and IIA has relatively no various logistics services for their customers. The utilization of the Incheon Airport Logispark(IAL) is lower than the other competitive airports. Therefore, demanding of improvement is urgently needed for soliciting outstanding domestic and foreign companies successfully and increasing their competitiveness with creating high value-added in the Incheon Airport Logispark(IAL)This paper presents the result of competitive status analysis of the major airports in the East Asia region and assesses these airports based on logistics competitive factors. In order to analyze the competitive status of IAL, this study has applied a multi-decision criteria approach and figured the strategies for IIA to create a competitive environment as an international air cargo hub.
