A single cross, Cheonganok, is a yellow semi-flint hybrid maize (Zea mays L.) developed by the corn breeding team at the National Crop Experiment Station (NCES), RDA in 2002. This hybrid, which has a high yield of dry matter, total digestible nutrients (TDN) and grain, was produced by crossing between two inbred lines, KS7rhm and KS118. KS7rhm with resistance to Biporalis maydis is the seed parent, and KS118 is the pollen parent of Cheonganok. Cheonganok's silking date is two days earlier than that of its check hybrid Kwanganok. It is resistant to lodging because of its low ear height. It has a longer ear than a check hybrid, Kwanganok. It is resistant to B. maydis and Exserohilum turcicum, but sensitive to black streaked dwarf virus (BSDV) and moderately resistant to corn borer. The yields of Cheonganok in dry matter, TDN, and grain were 18.59 ton/ha, 13.32 ton/ha and 8.84ton/ha, respectively, in regional yield trials for four years, which were increased 8% and 11% compared with a check hybrid, Kwanganok, and 9%, with a check hybrid, Suwon 19. Seed production of Cheonganok has gone well due to good match during crossing between female line, KS7rhm, and male line, KS118.
