The study was conducted to obtain basic information for breding Korean black raspbery(Rubus coreanus Miq.) byevaluating leaf, fruiting and fruit characteristics. The analysis of variance for all leaf characteristics from fourteen populationsshowed a significant diference among populations and among clones within population. Coefficients of variation for most leaftraits were in the range of 20~30%, but length of petiole of 1st and 2nd leaflet were 96.6~39.6%, 37.2~8.5%, respectively. Thisresult indicated that length of petiole of leaflet had more variation compared to other leaf traits. The analysis of variance for all fruit-ing and fruit characteristics also showed a significant diference among populations and among clones within population. Coeffi-cients of variation for fruit height and fruit width were relatively low(aproximately 10%), but the other traits were more variable inthe range of 20~50%. Especially, Seungju population showed high coeficients of variation in length of fruiting lateral and fruitcharacteristics as wel as leaf characteristics, which resulted in more variation among clones within population than that amongpopulations. Cluster analysis using average linkage method for 12 leaf characteristics, and 6 fruiting and fruit characteristics classi-fied 14 population into thre groups (I~I) at a Euclidean distance 1.0. Hannam and Sanghyo populations of Jeju-do in group Iwere clearly distinguished from the other groups (I and II) of the mainland.
