A single cross hybrid, eugjeomchal, is a white and black bicolor waxy corn (Zea mays L.) developed by the MaizeExperiment Station (MES), Gangwondo Agricultural Research and Extension Services (GARES) in Hongcheon in 2000.eugjeomchal was made by crossing two inbred lines, the sed parent, KL103, and the pollen parent, KW7. KL103 has blackseed coat, but KW7 has white one. Both of them came from Korean local varieties and were advanced to four and seven gen-erations by ear-to-row method, respectively. The silking date is about two weeks later than that of check hybrid, Chalok 1. Earlength (19.5 cm) was longer than that (16.3 cm) of Chalok 1. Plant and ear heights were higher than those of Chalok 1. It also hadgreater lodging resistance. The grain qualities and panel test of Heugjeomchal were better than those of any other check vari-eties. The number of ear and ear weight were 6,187 ears/10a and 891 kg/10a in Gangwon regional yield trial, respectively. In theregional yield trial, eugjeomchal was 4% higher in the number of ear than Chalok 1 or Chalok 2. As for ear weight,eugjeomchal was 6% higher than Chalok 1 and 13% higher than Chalok 2.
