Mansang (Lactuca sativa L.) is new romaine type lettuce cultivar developed from a cross between Late Texasgreen and Ithaca by the lettuce breeding team of National Institute of Highland Agriculture (NIHA), RDA in 2002. The preliminary, advanced, and regional yield trials for evaluation and selection of this variety, were carried out from 2001 to 2002. A new variety Mansang has brown seed color and gray-green leaves. Bolting of Mansang is a little later than the check cultivar Chaser green. Average marketable yield of Mansang was 33.9 ton/ha both lowland and highland sites, which were increased 21% compared with check cultivar Chaser green. Also, it showed good taste, resistance to LMV (Lettuce Mosaic Virus) and tolerantce to soft rot.
