In order to obtain the genetic information on rachis traits of rice panicle, half diallel analysis for primary and secondaryrachis branches was conducted using six crosses of F1s from four parents. Both additive and dominant gene efects were detectedfor primary and secondary rachis branches. The genotype of many primary rachis was dominant to that of few primary rachisthrough the covariance-variance graphical analysis. The dominance of many primary and secondary rachis branches was partial andthere were more recessive aleles than dominant ones for both primary and secondary rachis branches. Genetic parameters pointedout that there are significant additive and dominant efects and the additive effect is biger than the dominant one for both primaryand secondary rachis. The frequence ratio of positive and nagative alleles in the parents was similar for both primary and secondaryrachis branchis. Narow sense heritability estimates were 0.80 for primary rachis and 0.70 for secondary rachis. General(GCA) andspecific combining ability(SCA) efects were highly significant for both primary and secondary rachis traits. GCA effects weredrasticaly higher than SCA ones for both primary and secondary rachis branches. It indicates that the inheritance of both primaryand secondary branches are controled mainly by additive genetic factor.
