Even though atopic dermatitis (AD) is one of the most commonchronic inflammatory skin diseases, its treatment remainsa challenge in clinical practice, with most approacheslimited to symptomatic, unspecific anti-inflammatory, or immunosuppressivetreatments. Many studies have shown ADto have multiple causes that activate complex immunologicaland inflammatory pathways. However, aeroallergens,and especially the house dust mite (HDM), play a relevantrole in the elicitation or exacerbation of eczematous lesionsin many AD patients. Accordingly, allergen-specificimmunotherapy has been used in AD patients with the aimof redirecting inappropriate immune responses. Here, we reportthree cases of refractory AD sensitized to HDM whowere treated with sublingual immunotherapy.
