This research is accomplished to study the effect of natural Artemisia Absinthium extract on hair loss improvement and hair damage,targeting 20 men with genetic hair loss problems between age of 30 and 50. Among the experiment subjects, 10 used ointment A that Artemisia Absinthium extract is contained for 12weeks, while other 10 used ointment B that did not contain the extract. We checked the subjects' hair density and diameter by two weeks, and measured and compared the hairs' alkali solubility of before and after the experiment. While the subject A's average of hair density has increased from 9.06±1.79 (before the experiemnt) to 12.16±1.27 (week 12), subject B's hair density did not have a big difference between before (8.54±5.76) and the end (8.73±5.5) of the experiement. (p<.0.1) Also, for the average change in hair diameter, subject A had increased from 0.15±0.03 to 0.22±0.03; however, the subject B had changed only from 0.15±0.03 to 0.15±0.01 showing a insignificant difference. Looking at the Average change of hair alkali solubility, subject A had 0.1638±0.0131 before the experiement and 0.1375±0.023 at week 12, represent the huge decrease, while subject B had 0.1925±0.024 before and 0.185±0.207 at week 12, with no much difference. As it is shown above, the Artemisia Absinthium extract has increased the subjects' hair density and diameter but also decreased alkali solubility. This proved that using Artemisia Absinthium extract continusly to care hair loss and damage can be very effective at improving hair loss and damaged hair of middle-aged men.
