This study is an experimental research in order to identify the images of obese women formed through TV programs, in these days when it has become rapidly common that people are bent to the slim body shape of females. This research has brought about three (3) types in this tendency of leaning towards thinness through the analysis of Q-statements which were planned and prepared according to Q-methodology in terms of the image and personality of obese women, the position and function as women, and the cause of fatness. The common and distinct features between these types have also been explored in addition to the characteristics of each type. The first type of image is named “lack of self-control,” which revolves around the cause of fatness; the second one is “warm-hearted friend,” which is centered around the personality and character; and the third one is “unlovely and enjoying easy life,” which is mainly related with the impression of physical appearance. Obese women are deemed to be far from being attractive in all those three types of image. However, it implies that images of obese women are not always negative. This study has presented a concrete basis with regard to the audience target of health communication for the purpose of public benefit as well as a qualitative analysis through the employment of Q-methodology which is useful in understanding human inside.
