<Phra Aphaimanee> is known as a masterpiece of the thai Poet Sunthorn Phu. Sunthorn Phu, though he was a commoner, has grown up in a Royal palace in coast of the river Chaophraya while Rattanakosin dynasty of Thailand was having active relationship with foreign countries. While he was young, he used to watch persons come through the Chaophraya river to have trade relations. Also, he watched new middle class people who made overseas trade and use their wealth as a stepping stone for their higher social status. This fact not only change thai's values of contempt commercial business, but also made circumstances for having realistic thoughts and rationality. In this piece of work, Sunthorn Phu reflected the changes of the society and consciousness made with overseas trade. From the thought of king existing as a god, he showed his actual and logical thought of mentioning the king also as a human being. He especially made a wise women feature of the period as well. He mentioned a new feature of women which was going a step further of active character with self-confidence. As a matter of fact, although Sunthorn Phu's work is not yet asserting monogamy and is still following several details of traditional historic literature, it is highly appraised for emphasizing the independence of women and allowing women as one whole respectable human beings. This piece of work is a device for classical literature to go a step more to modern literature. Also, it is a work to conform to newly rising middle class people's life and their expectation(dream). Therefore, <Phra Aphaimanee> can be evaluated as a stepping stone from romanticism to a trend of realistic literature.
