This study aims at exploring the effect of school violence victimization on later engagement in delinquency. Few studies had investigated the bullying and peer rejection as crucial cause of adolescent delinquency. According to General Strain Theory of Agnew(2001), the school violence victimization might be among the most traumatic events that are associated with delinquency. The current study provides a test of GST perspectives on adolescent crime and delinquency controlling negative family circumstance, poor school achievement, delinquent peer, and impulsivity. The current study used a sample of 854 homeless juveniles in youth shelters. The first step in the analysis was to estimate the relationship between school violence victimization and adolescent delinquency by using t-test analysis. The next concern in the study was to find impact of school violence victimization on internalizing response(drug abuse and suicide attempt) and externalizing response(theft and robbery)in order to reduce level of strain by using multiple regression analysis. Consistent with GST, the result of regression analysis showed that there was statically significant relationship between school violence victimization and delinquency regardless of the type of delinquency. In addition, the full model indicated that gender, student status, parents neglect, impulsivity, and school violence victimization were statistically significant predictions for internalizing response oriented delinquency controlling other variables. This findings have implications for understanding the effects of violence victimization on different types of delinquency controlling family, school, peer, and personality factors.
