The purpose of this study is to analyze the issues and problems after legalization of mandatory retirement system, and to suggest the effective enforcement ways for deferred retirement. First, the major issues after passing the law of mandatory retirement system are worrying about additional labor costs under seniority wage system, a lowering of efficiency and delaying of promotion, and decreasing the new employment of young peoples etc. Second, the problems of Korean retirement system are pointed out as like losing of skilled talents and career gaps, using as the standards of employment adjustments, reinforcing the wage seniority because of comparative short retirement age, and the rigidity in discharge has strengthening the dualization of labor market etc. Third, the effective enforcement ways for deferred retirement are suggested as like positive utilization of old workforce, introduction of wage peak system and reorganization of wage system, admitting of exemption in deferred retirement, prohibition of age discrimination, linking between the receiving age of pension and retirement age, and establishing organizational culture for age diversity etc.
