Recently, urban space making through gender sensitive perspective is more important agendain this women friendly era. Neighborhood units are sedentary lifestyle to man and woman as afundamental living place. The maintenance of the family, nurturing and caring the children activitiesperformed in this neighborhood community. Housing complex, so-called apartment is represents thegeneral form of housing in modern city in Korea. The external space of housing complex isplaying an important role along with internal space as real life space. The uses of external spaceranges from passing and resting to communication, self realization, health and child care. Futhermore it is used as space for creating many kinds of activities. This study tried to find howthe external space of complex housing can be preferred by gender distinction through technicalanalysis. We found man and woman have different preferences in childcare and convenientfacilities and that woman has a higher preferences for such facilities mainly for effective life thanman does. Gender difference and gender needs exist differently in all spaces. After all, gendermainstreaming is to be considered a strategy for gender friendly space and housing complex.
