The purpose of this study is to examine the language aspects through the storytelling based on the whole language approach and find what kind of the textbook can be used for storytelling based on the whole language approach. For this purpose, English utterance and language pattern of 4 year-old girl were observed after the storytelling period. To investigate the aspects of language, utterance was recorded and written. Also, to find which story books have influences on the subject's verbal language, co-relations between utterance and the textbooks were analyzed. The result of analysis was that the child showed a lot of utterances related with story books which reflect real life of the child. This means that children acquire English as a whole language when the content of the storytelling textbook contains the situation or life pattern of the child properly. The findings suggest that children can acquire English as a whole language by storytelling if it is reflected and organized well in terms of the whole language approach. For this, choosing proper storytelling texts closely connected with the children's life is very important.
