The study pays attentions to the process in which the literary world overlooked pro-Japanese authors and their works focusing on Kim Sang-duk, a pro-Japanese author. During the Japanese colonial period, Kim was capable of publishing numerous books; he deserve attention for his literary activities. However, for his career goes hand in hand with the movement of children’s literature in colonial period, his works have been neglected for a long time. The literary world used to point out his being pro-Japanese author only, blaming the time for his pro-Japanese activities. Colonial literature contains elements that cannot be just explained by histories; such parts will be given attention in this study. This article gives careful consideration to Kim’s fairy tale for children, The Adventures of Taro; the tale as pro-Japanese work is explored by analyzing the book’s cover and illustration. The boy in the cover reveals that he is but a citizen of a small country. In comparison with the boy in the illustration, it is evident what these visual aids imply: It is a Korean boy who plays the leading role though Kim never intended.
