The Historical Film is one of the typical spheres of memory (Erinnerungsrume) which could be connected with history, memory, forgetfulness, past etc. Even at sometimes the historical film is recognized as a kind of alternative historiography. This article attempts to grasp the meaning of the change of memory in the contemporary Holocaust Cinema. In the immediate Post-traumatic days, there was no artistic representation about the Holocaust. The Holocaust was the keen and difficult theme which couldn’t be the subject of literature, fine art, and mass media. Because literature, fine art, and TV drama and cinema is basically fictional creations. After the mid-1950s mass media started to deal with the Holocaust. Since then many hundreds of the Holocaust movies were produced from the documentaries such as Night and Fog and Shoah to the Television Miniseries Holocaust, and to the several films of ‘New German Cinema’ and so on. Among them block-buster historical films such as Schindler’s List, Life is beautiful, and Pianist in particular appealed to the movie goers not just in USA but also in the world. But most block-buster historical films are produced to make good profit. Therefore the most Holocaust feature films resulted in the over-memory or false-memory of the Holocaust.
