This paper introduced the historicism discourse in the German historian Zunft since 1945. It is characterized by the poverty of philosophical-theoretical reflections which try to relate the historicism with problems of identity of discipline of history and its function. Among most German historians, the historicism has been regarded as negative tradition which the 19th century German historiography left, and as obsolete. They assure that today is the epoch of new discipline of history, that is, modern social history.
Recently, some German historian criticized such predominant view. According to them:1. The historicism discourse in the historian Zunft developed undesirably, compared to such discourses in another disciplines of cultural sciences which consider the historicism-problem such as value relativism, which the discipline of history caused, always actual in the modern world.
2. The differences between ‘old’ historicistical discipline of history and ‘modern’ social history has been so overemphasized that it is predominant to suppose that the later surpassed the former. But there is also similarities between them.
3. The social history is also a kind of historicistical discipline of history, because it depends upon the modern concept of history, that is, 'the History' so much as the old form of historical research and historiography. In the same context, a new annalistic model, which tries to surmount the historicism by means of deconstructing the modern concept of history, was suggested.
