This paper investigates the L2 acquisition of Russian General-Factual Imperfective (GFI) and perfective by Korean speakers, using two forced-choice elicitation tasks and a vocabulary production task. The main goal of the study is to examine whether the Korean learners are aware of the exact meaning and usage of GFI under certain contexts. GFI is divided into presuppositional imperfective and existential imperfective, which is further subdivided into experiential and bidirectional imperfective. Presuppositional and experiential imperfective belong to a pragmatics-syntax interface, while bidirectional imperfective lies in a semantics-syntax interface. The results show that the (advanced) Korean learners distinguish the contexts requiring one of the three sub-groups of GFI vs. perfective except some cases related to the pragmatics. This suggests the domain under the pragmatics-syntax interface is harder to acquire.
