This study investigates the differences of strategy types and frequencies between the high proficiency and low proficiency groups by researching the use strategies of the Chinese Korean language learners in reality to find the efficient Korean learning and teaching/learning methods. For this, the strategy types and frequency of the learners for listening in the high and low proficiency groups were investigated. A total of 72 subjects filled out the questionnaire and the three standards to divide the high and low learners were analyzed. The results of this study are as follows: In the cognitive strategy, the results of the high and low learners showed differently depending on how the standards were set and the memory strategies showed the same results in two angles including the extreme high learners (over 80 points) and extreme low learners (less than 50 points). The compensation strategy also showed that the most frequently used compensation strategies of the low learners based on the three analyses were the same. In the superior cognitive strategies, the high learners and low learners with the 70 and 60 points as standards, respectively, showed the same results, but the extreme high learners (over 80 points) and the extreme low learners (less than 50points) showed different results. The definitive strategies showed same results in all three analyses and were determined as strategies without differences between the high and low learners. The social strategies showed that, unlike the other strategies, the low learners used the social strategies more than the high learners. The meaning of this study is that it will help the teaching and learning of Korean language by examining the trends of the learning strategies of high and low Korean language learners.
