This paper proposes new view of Koerean place name connected to all kinds of pure korean names. For example, insects names, house ware names and activities name of works so on.
Specially, '-kumi', the back place name morpheme, has various forms and they have correspondence which could be explained in phonological way.
To understand those principals, at first I have found place names each province in korea. So I figured out they had had some conncetions. Mainly those kinds of place names have been located in deep, sunk area.
And I have proved the meaning of '-kumi' is 'hollow or hole' through old korean books such as 삼국사기, 훈뭉자회, 용비어천가 and so on.
As the last, I tried to the original word form of '-kumi'. For this I compaired old korean place names through ages. Finally, I arrived at a conclusion the original word form of '-kumi is kVpV. That has correspondence to KvPV.
Phonological change of 'p-m' can be proved with dialect, the Ancient Writings.
Thus I would say that the aim of old korean study is start when we are interested in our language. And then you can undersatand all words of around us are connected to world.
