Novel should be educated by reading it. Novel education has some purpose. A teaching method is needed to accomplish its purpose. Novel education's purpose is as same as literature education but it should be considered novel's peculiarities when you teach it. Novel education needs different method with poem and play education. We looked "The Sonata of A Raging Flame" in three angles. One is arrangement and function of events, another is layer of viewing events, the other is how those events are connected with the characterization. We analyzed major elements of novel -plot, point of view, and character- through "The Sonata of A Raging Flame."To understand character, we should understand events first. Arrangement of events is plot, so it is important to analyze plot. We can grasp the most appropriate plot through this process. We can also grasp how events are accessed. Understanding plot is the most important thing in novel education. If ability to distinguish layer of viewing events is lacked, it is hard to understand plot. We shouldn't overlook the understanding plot is to grasp events. We should distinguish change of viewpoint and narrator's role. All these processes are analytic process to understand character because understanding character is ultimate goal of reading novel.
