The hair styles in Koguryo shows the chignon, set hair, chae hair, poongimyoung hair, small brass hair, ssanggye, gache style, and especially gache adds the gorgeous decoration and shows the peculiar gogye type. One of the hair style in Hwangye type is to braid the long hair by strand and make them in round like a hoop fixing with so many hairpins, hang down them in the end of both side. The other one is the Gogye type, which raise the mid part and hang down the back of the head. Thus the hair style shown in the mural painting of old tombs are very splendid and various. At the hair styles in Koryo, the chae hair, chumagye, trae hair braided by gache are shown, which has unique type with the head tied with dark red silk and picked by a rod-like hairpin. And the ladies has the feature to be in full dress with the mongsoo which is made of black silk in going out. We have 6 kinds of hairstyle, which is set hair, chignon, poongimyoung hair, topknot, double topknot in the ancient times and these has been continued throughout the remote ages. The hairstyle of Koguryo and Koryo ages has the ornamental tendency of such a variety and splendor, which reflect the high level of clothes and ornament cultures in the ancient times. With above, it is considered that the hairstyle of Koguryo, Koryo, ages has very high level of ornamental features, which is by no means inferior to that of modern times. The right inquiry of our nations hairstyle through the history will be the starting point that we can grope the beauty cultures identification and create the new Korean beauty.
