This study tried to the substance of beauty art history such as color make-up, skin make-up, washing face and taking a bath through the historical consideration of the methodological change of Korean traditional crest make-up based on a landscape and literature. The consideration results of historical change for make-up method are as follows. In Kokuryo, various make-up methods appeared such as cheek and lip rouge and sahong. At Kokuryo’s make-up pattern, hair was done softly and eyebrow was bluntly trimmed and perfume was used. Shilla people saw taking a bath as sacred, took a frequent bath for cleaning their bodies, so rinsers were developed. Koryo women applied much white powder, made eyebrow standing out by trimming it slim, and made up at banquets or out-goings, so make-up was dualized. Noble women wore perform sack. Koryo people, as a herb therapy, took a lily bath at herbal pillow filled with herbal plants. Anyone took a bath at the road regardless of special place or instrument. Powder washing method in Chosun was done by women and men. Eyebrow make-up made its make-up method varied. Partial bathing was popular, medicinal water custom was shown at Dano and Yoodo days. Scholars applied perfume in clothes and washed the head with perfume. Chosun’s women respected delicate beauty with light make-up by drawing eyebrow and powdering face. At ordinary times, they mastered skin care method using cotton oil by focusing on foundation make-up. It was found that even in hair style, various and brilliant hair styles existed over all ages. Skin make-up appeared at color, foundation and perfume and bathe, but water pillow and herbal grass pillow and perfume bath like Aroma-therapy highlighted in western countries were already seen in our ancient times. It will have more value than that of the western culture as it is habituated in our life. Also Chosun’s light make-up has brought about unsatisfactory development of color make-up, but it is thought to be the product of historical thought and ideology, so our folk beauty therapy has been widely used through oral tradition. Despite long history compared to natural beauty therapy, it is perceived as a conventional folk therapy due to negligent concern and lack of systematic research. Hereby it is necessary
