This study aimed at analyzing police misconduct or corruption by using a police integrity climate survey. The survey was initially designed to measure perception and attitude regarding minor corruption of police and comprehensive unethical behavior of policemen. Furthermore, the police integrity climate survey involves the perception of police officers about commonly used ten corruption scenarios. Each scenario contains universal stories of bribing, fraud, and classical corruption of excessive force by an officer. Other case stories are related to forms of taking minor gifts, free meals, or advantages from citizens. In the current study, the integrity climate survey was translated into Korean language. Sampling and data collection were conducted in the Central Police Academy in South Korea from October 2010 for a month. Total sample number for this study was 130 and the survey was implemented toward the policemen who were newly selected as first-line staffs. In addition, the study utilized simple descriptive statistics including frequency distribution table and graph in order to describe the attitude toward seriousness of police corruption, willingness to report the police corruption, and appropriate official punishment level for the police corruption. The outcome showed that perception of seriousness about police corruption was involved to the offense of taking bribe for nor reporting traffic law violation and the offense of taking watch from crime scene(respectively mean score 4.8, 4.8) among ten police corruption scenarios. More importantly, the lowest point in the perception of seriousness was associated with the behavior of punching arrestee. Overall findings suggest that officers would more prefer to report the police misconduct through the police organization instead of relying on outside resources of police organization. Further policy implication will be discussed.
