This paper’s purpose is to introduce Chinese academic writing classes for Koreans at the intermediate and advanced Chinese level that focus on process-oriented writing. The purpose of this class is for Chinese learners to be able to write an academic essay by oneself through a series of five writing processes as follows: ① orientation for academic writing ② selection of theme, ③ research and collection of material and reading, ④ outlining a paper and interim presentation, ⑤ and drafting and rewriting through peer feedback. During the above writing processes, Chinese learners shared the themes and structure of their papers and received feedbacks from peers.
Chinese leaners who participated in this class were able to systematically make a composition with Chinese and further enhance their writing performance. In addition, they not only gained confidence and a sense of accomplishment about writing an academic essay in Chinese through collaborative activities with peers but also were intrinsically motivated through expressing their opinions and thoughts in Chinese.
