This study analyzes the characteristics and implications of the disaster of a film titled Russian Ark by Aleksandr Nikolayevich Sokurov. The Russian Ark is about the artistic eternity of Hermitage museum in Russian history. The museum revives memories of the pain of fire and war accumulated in 300 years according to the travel of characters. The director describes it as a continuity of a space and time and connect it with the past and present, using the characters of the past and present. The actual plot of the Russian Ark is the lack of uniqueness of Russian culture and art. Heterogeneous cultural elements in museum arouse controversy about borrowing of European culture in Russia between the characters. They look for the exit towards the future in order to overcome disaster which is forgetting the pain of the past. However, the exit towards the future was placed in the sea unlike the expectations of audiences. The sea is a risk factor that can cause a disaster anytime. This implies that overcoming the catastrophe of the Russian culture and art depends on the attitude of awareness of the cultural disaster instead of the political and religious ideology. The risk of disaster is always inherent in human life that can be changed at any time by the social disaster of forgetting about the cultural heritage of the Russian.
