Purpose: Google Android and Apple iOS have emerged as the two most popular operating system platforms for mobile devices. The purpose of this paper is to describe the perception differences between users' for the open source platform(Android) and one for close platform (iOS) and to diagnosis the smartphone ecosystem to each platform in Korea. Using dual model including the endogenous and exogenous constructs the research model was proposed to reveal the current satisfaction as well as the future switching intention. And this paper proposed a few meaningful results. Composition/Logic: This paper is composed of five chapters. Chapter Ⅰ as an introduction explains the background and purpose of this paper. Chapter Ⅱ analyzes the literatures on mobile platform and explains the dual model for building research model. Chapter Ⅲ proposes the research model and research questions, and describes the data collection and procedure for empirical analysis. Chapter Ⅳ presents a methodology for the empirical analysis of research model which explains the users' satisfaction and switching intention by each mobile platform. This chapter also analyzes the results to explain theoretical and practical implications. Lastly, chapter Ⅴ concludes this paper. Findings: The findings from empirical analysis indicated that the relationship between the endogenous constructs and users' satisfaction has a bigger effect than that between the exogenous constructs and satisfaction. However, in terms of the switching intention for the smartphone platform the pressure from competing company plays an important role in future behavioral intention. And the effect on the close platform has stronger than open platform in the perceived playfulness and peer pressure. The most interesting part is both users' satisfaction and switching intention are higher in close platform than open one. Originality/Value: The previous papers mainly dealt with the focus on the functionality and application of the smartphone or the initial technology acceptance based on TAM. However, this paper has the originality in that emphasis on the platform under smartphone ecosystem to compare two different kinds of platform. And this paper emphasizes the importance of users' satisfaction and switching intention to anticipate the future ecosystem in terms of theoretical implications. Also the results showed the practical implications on how the current preferences affect the future sustainable usage under platform ecosystem in Korea.
