Purpose: The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the survival rate and marginal bone loss of Osstem US II plus implants, which have a resorbable blasted media (RBM) surface external hex connection. Materials and Methods: Clinical and radiographic data on the implants, which were placed in private dental practice from 2007 to 2011, and functionally loaded for at least 1 year, were analyzed. Patient records were used to evaluate each patient’s gender, age, implant location, diameter, and length, as well as smoking status. To measure marginal bone loss, intraoral x-rays were taken. Results: A total of 162 dental implants in 61 patients were evaluated. Average surveillance time was 2.5 years. Cumulative survival rate was 100%, and average marginal bone loss was 1.08 mm. There were no statistically significant differences in the amount of marginal bone loss according to gender, implant location, or smoking status. Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, we conclude that RBM surface external hex connection implants are clinically useful due to their short-term cumulative survival rate and because marginal bone loss of Osstem US II plus implants showed satisfactory results and met the proper criteria.
