스마트폰이 현대 사회를 살아가기 위한 필수품으로 빠르게 자리잡은 이후 스마트폰 다음의 스마트 기기로 웨어러블 디바이스가 주목 받고 있다. 스마트폰이 사용자와 인터넷을 연결해주는 기기였다면 웨어러블 디바이스는 IoT(Internet of Things) 또는 IoE(Internet of Everything) 시대를 여는데 앞장설 수 있는 기기라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 웨어러블 디바이스는 사용자와 24시간 밀착되어 사용자의 상황을 인지하고 사용자에게 다양한 편의를 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 웨어러블 디바이스를 이용한 상황 인지 응용에는 어떤 것이 존재하며 어떠한 식으로 활용될 수 있는지를 다양한 예시를 통하여 설명 하려고 한다. 더 나아가 본 논문에서는 현재의 웨어러블 디바이스를 바탕으로한 상황 인지 기술에 대한 논의를 바탕으로 앞으로의 전망에 대하여 논의한다.
