In data broadcast systems, a caching mechanism for a client has been introduced to alleviate the performance degradation due to the limited bandwidth. Consequently, an efficient caching strategy needs to be developed to gain performance goals of data broadcasting systems. Many factors can affect efficiency of a caching strategy, and we think they can be collected from a server as well as a client. In this paper, based on information which we can collect from a client and a server, we introduce a series of caching strategies and then perform several experiments through a simulation to analyze their performance. According to the results, owing to mainly the effect of prefetching, the strategy using information from both a client and a server shows better performance than other strategies
