In this paper, I examine how the use of SNS and the use of online media ,including SNS and blog, for political communications affect political participation among Koreans. I also explore whether online media as social networks replace the political role of offline voluntary associations in Koreans' political participation. I find that the frequency of SNS use and the online media use for political communications have significant impacts on non-voting participation among Koreans while they have no impact on voting participation. I also find that involvement in offline voluntary organizations bolsters both voting and non-voting participation among Koreans. However, the marginal effect of SNS use and the use of online media for political communications on nonvoting participation is greater than that of the membership of offline voluntary organizations.
