Global economic order is quite rapidly changing and among others, necessity of regionalcooperation is greatly appearing than ever. In the world economy cooperation trend,however, only North East Asian region does not make financial, monetary and tradecooperation to meet regional countries' requirements in spite of its powerful economies andeconomic growth potential. Therefore, this study intends to consider necessity of economiccooperation community between adjacent countries based on regional unit mainly with NorthEast Asian major countries and then to suggest overall trade cooperation measures throughsuch economic community. Overall summary of the study based on above recognition is as follows; The North EastAsian economic cooperation community has to consider geopolitical location together withinstitutional aspect being promoted in the long term and to consider formation ofregional·functional economic bloc in the short term. It is required to bear in mind that tradecooperation through formation of the North East Asian economic community is the shortcutof survival for the region in the long-term viewpoint irrespective of present advantage ordisadvantage. For this, respective countries shall consider phased and discriminatorymeasures on free trade cooperation based on their economic situations. Korea is one of threemajor economic giants in North East Asia. Furthermore, it is evaluated as the best suitablecountry to act as a bridge between China and Japan in North East Asia while a bridgebetween North East Asia and South East Asia in the whole East Asia. In order for Korea tobecome a leader of the North East Asian economic community, it has to solve securityproblem of a divided nation.
