The objective of this study is to provide development strategies for the hinterlands of the Masan Newport in Korea. This is done by applying SWOT/AHP analysis. Thirteen SWOT factors and the relative weight of SWOT groups were examined through focus group questionnaires with professors, KMI consultants, terminal operators of Masan Newport and policy-makers at Masan Newport. Based on SWOT and AHP analysis, this paper suggests possible S/O, W/O, W/T, and S/T strategies which can be undertaken to develop Masan Newport hinterlands. It is believed that the SWOT strategies would stimulate the conceptiveness of Masan Newport and create the port’s throughput.
