Clostridium ramosum은 그람 양성 절대무산소성 간균으로 비병원성 세균이며 사람의 위장관에 정상 상재균으로 존재한다. 이 균은 Clostridum 균종에서도 비정형적인 특징을 갖는 RIC 그룹에 속하며, 소아에서 중이염, 면역이 저하된 성인 환자에서 다양한 감염을 일으킬 수 있다고 드물게 보고되어 왔다. 하지만 아직까지 국내에는 이 균에 의한 인체감염이 보고된 바가 없어, 저자들은 압박궤양 및 결장암 환자에서 발생한 C. ramosum에 의한 균혈증 2예를 보고하는 바이다.
