The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of demographic variables(sex, grade, parental education, parental occupation, SES), self-esteem, communication and social support on school resilience of multicultural adolescents and nonmulticultural adolescents in Jeonnam province. The subjects were 275(127 male, 148 female) multicultural adolescents and 280(122 male, 157 female) nonmulticultural adolescents. They completed Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale, Communication Skill scale, Student Social Support Scale and School Resilience scale. Statistical analyses of data were frequency, mean, standard deviation, t-test, Pearson’s correlation, and Stepwise regression analysis. SPSSWIN 21.0 was used for data analysis. The results were as follows: multicultural adolescents’ self-esteem, communication skill, social support and school resilience were significantly lower than those of nonmulticultural adolescents. While multicultural adolescents’ self-esteem, teacher support, maternal occupation, peer support, and school had significant influences on interest in school work, nonmulticultural adolescents’ self-esteem, teacher support, communication skill, school, paternal occupation had significant influences. Regarding attitude toward academic achievement, communication skill, teacher support, self-esteem and SES had significant influences on multicultural adolescents, whereas communication skill, self-esteem, maternal education, SES, and maternal occupation on nonmulticulutral adolescents. Finally, multuicultural adolescents’ teacher support, communication skill, and paternal occupation had significant influences on school rule conformity, while nonmulticulatural adolescents’ communication skill, self-esteem, maternal occupation, sex, parent support, community support, and paternal education had significant influences.
