The construction of fixed-width confidence intervals for an unknown population parameter is considered. The sequential, the two-stage, the modified two-stage, and the modified two-stage procedure based on bootstrap procedures are reviewed. In order to avoid computationally very costly procedures like a fully sequential procedure, we implement the bootstrap ideas in a modified two-stage procedure. Simulation results illustrate the performance of the procedures for sample sizes.
