This study analyzes the total factor productivity (TFP) growth of information and communication technology (ICT) industry based on size of companies. The TFPs of small and medium companies show upward trend. Conversely, the TFP of large companies are relatively stable. This means that small companies are a crucial factor of enhancing TFP of Korean ICT industry. This study investigates the determinants of TFP growth in Korean ICT industry such as firm size, R&D investment, age of firm and debt ratio. The results show that R&D investment and age of firm have statistically significant impact on TFP growth of Korean ICT industry. This is mainly because the growth of Korean ICT industry is concentrated on hardware and networks sectors which require initial investment and need economies of scale. The results of this study suggest that R&D investment should be increased to enhance productivity of Korean ICT industry. Moreover, government should support more the small companies in order to make them to survive in the market. These policies would enhance competitiveness of Korean ICT industry.
