This paper sums up and discusses the interview data of Koreangovernment institutions’ personnels in charge of translation. The dataabout the characteristics of the personnel, translation process,translation quality control shows which problems exist in governmentinstitutions’ translation and what makes that problems. Governmentinstitutions’ translation is still far behind of systematic practice orquality control, partly because of frequent replacement ofpersonnels-in-charge; translation as a small part of the personnel’sworkload, not as a main focus; open tendering to find translationsuppliers, in which price is concerned much more than quality.
