I explore five poems in In the Seven Woods, the structural backbone of this book. The careful arrangement of the five poems shows the hero’s search for a Yeatsian Holy Grail. Yeats's most agonizing period of life falls somewhere between 1903 and 1908 when the book’s two different versions were published. As reiterated in the book, the final goal of mystical alchemy cannot be achieved in this world, but the on-going process of finding his Holy Grail lays bare the essence of his arts: an endless pursuit of Yeats’s artistic imagination.
