An object does not have inherent colors. Rather, colors of an object are shown and changed according to the reflection ratio of light waves on its surface. Therefore, while human eyes always have emotional feelings from white color, colors generated through an image sensor in a digital camera present white color differently according to color temperature on the light source. Like this, a digital camera has a problem, which does not always reproduce exact colors as selection mode of white balance for each type of light source is decided by average Kelvin value of the certain light source. This study conducted trial shots using each camera with different photographing lights(① Daylight ② Electronic Flash ③ Halogen lamp ④ Fluorescent lamp ⑤ HMI lamp) in different camera modes(① Auto WB, ② Custom WB, ③ Daylight) to test right color reproduction according to the color reproducibility of a digital camera and characteristics of light sources. The tested light sources were mainly lights for a studio, which are dominantly used to take advertisement pictures. The purpose of this study is to test photograph lighting with different color temperatures, which are frequently found in the work place that are very familiar to photographers and issues related to right color reproduction following selection of white balance modes in a digital camera, identify characteristics of light source for color reproduction, and present a method to adjust value on the color coordinate in accordance with the intention of a photographer.
