Systemic lupuserythematosus (SLE) can occur commonly in young women. The cause of SLE remains unknown. The initial symptoms include fever, chilling, or weight loss, and these nonspecific symptoms develop into skin rash, pericarditis, spleenomegaly or lymphadenopathy. The prevalence of lymphadenopathy ranges from 12% to 59% in lupus patients. Although Lupus lymphadenitis is a common finding, it is rarely the presenting manifestation since it can be pathologically indistinguishable from histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis (Kikuchis disease). There have been sporadic reports of lupus lymphadenitis. We present a case of a 53 year old woman presenting cervical and inguinal lymph node enlargement and generalized skin rash. The clinical and pathologic aspects as well as differential diagnosis of this entity are reviewed. (Korean J Otolaryngol 2006;49:755-7)
