폐모균증은 주로 혈당조절이 불량한 당뇨병 및 혈액종양 환자에서 발생하는 드문 곰팡이성 기회감염 질환으로 소세포폐암과 같은 고형암에서의 보고는 극히 드물며, 종격동으로 형성된 누에 의해 종격기종 및 피하기종이 합병된 예는 없었다. 저자들은 소세포폐암으로 항암화학요법을 시행하던 중 침윤의 형태로 시작하여 공동성 경화로 진행되는 양측성 폐모균증을 진단하고, 전신적 amphotericin B를 사용한 후 임상적 호전을 보인 환자에서 2.4개월 지나 폐암의 진행으로 항암화학요법 재투여에 따른 폐모균증 공동의 악화로 누 형성과 함께 종격기종 및 피하기종이 합병되어 폐절제술을 시행하였으나, 진균성 패혈증으로 사망한 1예를 경험하였기에 이를 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.
