약물 치료에 불응하는 말기 또는 급성 심부전 환자에서MCS는 환자의 예후를 개선시킬 수 있는 여지가 충분히 있다. 아직까지 국내에서는 대부분 경피적 순환 보조 장치인IABP와 ECMO를 심인성 쇼크나 급성 심부전 환자가 회복할때까지, 또는 말기 심부전 환자가 심장이식을 받을 때까지가교 치료로 일시적으로 사용하고 있다. 국내에서 심장이식술이 활발하게 진행되면서 공여자 부족 현상이 발생하고 있다. 아직 국내에서 활성화되지 않았지만 장기적으로 사용할수 있는 삽입형 심실 보조 장치를 사용하면 심장이식을 대기하는 말기 심부전 환자에서 효과적으로 사용할 수 있는치료 수단이 될 것이다. 하지만 MCS는 많은 합병증을 일으킬 수 있어 삽입 시에는 특별한 관리와 면밀한 모니터링이필요하다고 볼 수 있겠다.
