The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between the biological knowledge and the creativity in biological modeling. For this study, 144 ninth grade students (75 boys and 69 girls)were sampled from a middle school in Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do. Data were collected from two tests:the biological knowledge test on plant morphological adaptation to environment and the biological creativity test to measure the fluency, the flexibility and the originality of the creativity in biological modeling. The results showed that the correlations between the biological knowledge and the creativity in biological modeling were statistically significant: Spearman's correlations between the knowledge and the fluency, the flexibility, and the originality were r s=0.377, p<0.01, r s=0.376,p<0.01, and r s=0.424, p<0.01, respectively. This implied that the biological knowledge forms the groundwork for the biological creativity.
