The purpose of this study was to develop a teaching-learning program based on the MOSt model on 'Stimulus and Response' section and to identify the effects of the program on a learning motivation, academic performance and scientific emotion in middle school science classes. The MOSt model is a learning model for improvement of biology learning motivation based on brain motivation and reward system. To compare the effects of the program, this study applied the MOSt model program into the experimental group and the ARCS program were applied to the control group. Then, changes in student's motivation, academic performance and scientific emotion were analyzed between the experimental group and the control group. The results of the study could be summarized as follows : In terms of learning motivation, there was significant increase, especially Attention and Confidence areas, in the experimental group than in the control group. For the academic performance, both groups showed significant increase, but no difference between two groups. For the positive emotion, both groups showed significant increase, but no difference between two groups. It was revealed that the teaching and learning program based on the MOSt model is more effective in improving learning motivation than ARCS program in attention and confidence areas. Also, teaching and learning program based on the MOSt model is effective to improving academic performance and the positive emotion.
