The purpose of this study was to analyze pre-service science teacher's perceptions and their science class by explicit teaching and learning strategies on basic science process skills. For this study,researchers asked 15 pre-service teachers in college of education to write a reflective journal on meaning and application methods of the basic science process skills and to design and teach science topic applying explicit teaching methods on the skills for secondary school level. After the teaching practice in the condition of microteaching, the focus group discussion including science education experts and the pre-service teachers was executed to analyze difficulties and experiences on the explicit teaching of the skills. One of the critical results of this study was that the pre-service teachers had many difficulties in understanding on the basic science process skills, as well as the explicit teaching practice of the skills. This study could help that pre-service science teacher and school science teacher realize a necessity and importance on explicit teaching of basic science process skills and have ideas of explicit teaching strategies on the skills.
