The purpose of this study was to understand the lived experience of mothers of children with muscular dystrophy. The participants were 13 mothers, who agreed with the objectives of the research. Interviews with mothers of children with muscular dystrophy were conducted in order to investigate the mothers'experiences with their children with muscular dystrophy. Data collection was done through in-depth semi-structured interviews. All of the interviews were audiotaped and then transcribed. Four themes emerged from qualitative analysis:(1) the difficulties of psychological aspects, (2) the difficulties of relationship, (3)the coping strategies that the mothers use in order to confront with the difficulties, and (4) the support needed for raising children with muscular dystrophy. The author recommends that these mothers be encouraged to access emotional support system, public health care service system and educational support system for regulating family conflict and disease management.
